Although I am licensed to, and enjoy doing various hairstyles like perms, color treatments, braids and weaves, I have a true passion for natural hair care and helping black women who want to grow out their natural hair, see how long, healthy and illustrious their hair can be. This by far is the greatest gift you can give your hair. The transition period from processed to natural hair will be a smooth one with the techniques I use. I create styles that are beautiful, which allows natural growth to blend in with existing hair. Transitioning with me as your stylist is impeccably subtle, so subtle that even your closest friends won't notice the changes.
Hello, My name is Patty, and I'm a professional hair stylist. I specialize in hair care treatment of beautiful black hair. I produce healthy and radiant hair by using natural hair care methods such as steaming, moisturizing and conditioning.
I was born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies in the parish of Manchester. I am the tenth child of loving parents; the Henriques. As I child I would do my siblings hair. Eventually I became better and better at styling their hair and I knew I was spending time on something I loved to do. Growing up, my passion was hair, beauty, and fashion. At one point, I wanted to be an actress and a model. Entering modeling post-twenties was a bit of a barrier, and I never had the right exposure to really bring acting into fruition, so here I go, I told myself. I would pursue cosmetology until I made it, and that I did.
In my early adult years I went off to cosmetology school. I attended the Lenora School of Beauty Culture in Kingston Jamaica. I completed an intense analytic course in hair care and management, enjoying every second of it and soon graduated with high honors. After graduation I took the first big step in my career as a professional hair stylist: I took all the money I had and invested in my very own salon, the only one in Manchester at the time.
After that I migrated to the United States in 1989 to pursue my passion here. After my arrival I enrolled in the Westchester School of Beauty Culture in Mount Vernon, N.Y. There I completed the required 1040 hrs of training and received my cosmetology license for the State of New York. Thenceforth I operated as a booth rental for four years in Westchester County.
After four years I finally decided I was ready to open a salon of my own, focused on ultimate hair care, like I had done in Jamaica. In 1999 I became owner and founder of Its Hair 2000. I operated under that name for ten successful years with the help of my Lord and Savior. Here I am today in White Plains, NY, still living my passion under the name Patty's Hair Garden, and making sure every client leaves my chair feeling confident, beautiful and fresh.
